Android M release date, rumours and everything you need to know

It's that time again and the stage is set for Google !

Google's I/O developer conference 2015 is scheduled to kick off in San Francisco at 9am PDT on May 28 and the official schedule is now available on the Google I/O 2015 site. All the fans and developers are quite excited and expecting some big announcements and launches from the search giant, the most important being the Android M

Android M 6.0

With Android Lollipop being just
available to 10 percent of devices , Google has decided to shift the attentions towards the next iteration of the Android family, currently codename Android M. As per the session descriptions , it is said to be unveiled at this year's  Google annual I/O developer conference.

Android M is expected to release with improved notification features and more powerful voice controls. According to the  "Android At Work " session the Android M is expected to "bring power of Android to all kinds of workplaces."

Moreover, Android M is expected to meet a design make over just like what happened to Apple iOS 8 from iOS 7. Google would probably adopt the " Material Design " resulting in a big change in its user interface.

Google is on the move to shift completely into the Material Design make over and Android M is expected to fold in with this design revamp. I guess, it will extensively look different from its former version , Android Lollipop. Well, I'm quite excited about this make over and is excepting some evolutionary change and refinement.

The above is an unofficial concept video that has been designed by Android Hack about what possibly (and hopefully) will be added to the next member of the Android Family.

Android has always brought in consistent updates in all its iteration with regards to the notifications. Last year in Android Lollipop  , the notifications got even better with a nifty update offering granular control over notifications and thus we hope to see Google take a step further in Android M.
Rumour has it that the improved notifications will ensure better syncing on multiple devices. That is, they'll be unifying notifications for cross-platforms.

Another notable update will be the security enhancement. Smartphones being increasingly used these days , security is one big factor that most of the users look upon. Keeping this in mind , Google has decided to make a move towards this. Moreover , Google recently introduced “find my phone” feature to Chrome and “kill switch” feature to Android 5.1, to kill a phone remotely and make it useless. This might be the footsteps towards better security.

As per the reports the Apple Watch has already shipped more units than what Android Wear devices did in the whole of 2015. So, to cope  with this glut, Google would probably lay ground works towards ensuring seamless experience.

Android M Release Date

Android M is capped for an official unveiling at Google I/O 2015.As for the official release date, Android M might be available by the end of October or early November 2015.

Compatibility

The question is would your phone or tablet be compatible with Android M. Well, for now we have no official news regarding compatibility but as Android Lollipop was just available to 10 percent of the devices , the answer would be probably a NO.The o
lder phones probably will not be on the update roadmap.
